TESTIMONIALS
Mary, Kelly & Alfie
Today we had our follow-up meeting with Monique and big surprise- Ava! The good news is that we have managed not to mess up all the great work you all did with Alfie. Lots of questions were answered, and we were even able to sit out at a coffee shop and test out some of the lessons we learned.
One thing we forgot to mention to Ava and Monique is how good we feel about having the tools to deal with any situation that arises. Before taking Alfie to TGD we were both often uneasy about taking him on walks or having folks over. Now we feel confident and more relaxed about sitting at a cafe; going for a walk at the beach or even having family over.
So thank you all so much for getting us to a place where we- the two of us and Alfie- are able to have a more relaxed and enjoyable life.
Greg, Nick, & Echo
We’re so proud of our boy. A month ago, Echo snapped at 2 waiters and another patron while at a patio cafe. Around the same time, he attempted to bite the Vet and the nurse. They couldn’t even examine him , his fear aggression was so severe. Today, we took Echo with us to breakfast. He payed no attention to the waiters, other patrons and even another dog that loudly barked at him. Today, Echo also saw his Vet. While still very fearful, he allowed the Vet to examine his eyes and take blood for testing with minimal effort. We can’t thank The Good Dog enough for all of their help working with Echo, reducing his fear, anxiety, and overprotectiveness while helping us become better owners.
The Takaloo Family
My 15 month old male Doberman just finished a three week board and train with TGD for anxiety and obedience training and we could not be happier with his progress in such a short time.
I took him for a walk in my neighborhood on the first day back home and emotions were taking the best of me as he walked calmly at my knee the entire time, just as they demonstrated on our “go home session”; same walk used to get me frustrated, hot and covered in sweat in such a way that upon my return I had to shower.
I did not have the pleasure of meeting Sean but his crew are awesome, beautiful inside and out. Always attentive to answer our emails and we could not be happier with our choice.
Previously we spent the same amount of time and money with another training institution who practice a “non-correction” method which I am sure will work for some dogs but definitely did not work for my boy.
We still have a long way to go with working to enforce everything he’s learned at TGD and they are there to answer our questions along the way
I am on my second read of Sean’s book “The Good Dog Way” which I sometimes feel he wrote especially for me, as everything in this book is what I was doing wrong with my Dobie and my previous dogs.
Thanks everyone at TGD and God bless you all.
Sherri & Bear
I am pleased to report he is doing great! The “mini educator” has become my new best friend. We have been able to go on great structured walks around downtown. We have encountered people, dogs, skateboards, bikes, etc. with little to no reaction. (He used to lunge at EVERYTHING). His heel is amazing, after only a few short days with you all.
I feel stronger and empowered, I am determined to make Bear the best dog he can be. Thank you to The Good Dog.

After our son was born, our dog Beasley went completely off the rails. He started growling at the baby, barking at guests, peeing everywhere, cowering in corners, and running away whenever anyone touched him. He was depressed, anxious, jealous and borderline anorexic. We were fairly certain he was beyond help and had started looking for a new home for him, but as a last-ditch effort, we sent him for a board and train at The Good Dog.
We were shocked when he came back to us two weeks later — he was confident, sweet, obedient and — most importantly — happy! Sean and Laura taught us how to communicate with Beasley in a more effective manner, and the difference has been night and day. I can’t recommend this program highly enough. I only wish Sean and Laura could e-collar train humans, because I have a few people I’d like to send over there!

Just wanted to add my support for balanced training and for dedicated trainers like Sean and his team, who put themselves out there to help those of us who don’t have Pollyanna Poodle. Positive-only worked well for my super easy dane mix, but even with a people pleaser like him, I still didn’t feel absolutely sure off leash. Our current clan includes one of Sean’s recent pupils, and we are so thankful we got balanced training for him. When he started to have behavior issues at about 3 years old, we did mostly positive work with him. He could sit, down, even come when he wanted, but he was a nervous wreck! He started attacking our other dogs. We didn’t know what to do, fearing that correcting him would escalate the behavior (we were brainwashed that any correction would escalate his behavior). We had been told by professionals that we would likely have to at some point, and should probably sooner than later, put him down. We decided instead to “manage” him because death wasn’t an option to us, and ended up in a cycle of trying not to ‘provoke him’ by avoiding situations and molly-coddling him for years… until we found TGD. He’s a bit of a tough case for huge anxiety issues and attacking out other dog/s. We had been ‘managing’ him for almost 4 years. We are just beginning the work, as we are only a month out from training, but he has already made tremendous progress! We are amazed at how much better our relationship is with him, and how much more under control he is. We finally feel like we have the tools and training to continue TGD’s good work to create a better and safer life for him, us, and other dogs. I honestly was afraid and concerned at first about correcting him, but I am seeing the results! He is much less anxious, relaxes easier, and is actually excited to work!
